GI Joe Renegades: all a dream?

In today's Duke review, yo said that GI Joe: Renegades was a great show, and it is: it has lots of Easter eggs for old fans, but does a superb job of introducing the characters in a cool way for a new audience.

Well, despite the critical acclaim, Hasbro announced that the show would be going on hiatus until after GI Joe 2 came out. And the way it was said made it sound like the show was cancelled outright, but they just didn't want to use the "C" word (since the final episodes had yet to air, and they wanted to keep the ratings up). So we can hope that the show comes back, but it doesn't seem likely.

Anyway, when the finale aired for the first time, The Hub showed this goofy little coda:

Yeah, yeah, laugh it up, you jerks. Renegades was miles better than the '80s cartoon, and even tops Resolute. It got the usual share of hate from people who dislike stylized animation, but nobody's cared what they thought since Batman the Animated Series came out.

Isn't that actually the traditional Hasbro M.O? Transformers Animated began in the same year as the first Bayformers movie, and ended the same year as the second one. Transformers Prime started a month short of the same year as the third Transformers movie, and is presumably going to end when the fourth is released.

I mean, a more apt comparison would be them doing nostalgic line and then cancelling it in favor of a movie line, then doing a nostalgic line until they can cancel it for a movie again, but we're discussing adaptations here.

Which means that whatever new G.I Joe show there will be, will most likely be directly inspired by the second film, and that generally can't be thought of as a good thing. The films look like they're too Sci-Fi to be James Bond, and too James Bond to be good, while not being Science Fiction enough to be worth watching.

People were trashing on Batman TAS' style? What these people exist?
