"Firefight"
6/3/09

Boy, they sure are Irish!

Both Barbecue and Blowtorch are two sides of the same stereotype: Blowtorch is the one on the cartoon with standard Irish accent, the kind of heavy brogue often seen on cartoon Irishmen; Barbecue, meanwhile, comes from a family of Boston (or Bahstahn, if you prefer) firemen, and it doesn't get much more Irish than that.

You remember the scene in Futurama's "The Farnsworth Parabox" where the Universe A Professor and the Universe 1 Professor are taking turns adjusting the knob for the chandelier-mo-stat, to no net change? I imagine that's what you get when you put these two guys together: one starts fires, the other stops fires. Wonder if they get along in real life?

And in case you didn't recognize it, that's Joe Headquarters that's on fire behind them.

Barbecue: Do you evah wondah if pah-haps they should stop pairing us up? It's wicked retahded.
Blowtorch: Sure'n I do, boyo! Bit o' cross-purposes, ain't it?
