Hulkling spoilers
So how did Hulkling gain his powers? Accident with a microwave burrito or something? Catch an STD from She-Hulk? No, not exactly. At first it just seemed young Teddy Altman was a human shape-shifter, but then the Super-Skrull showed up and claimed that Teddy was a Skrull - when he tried to prove the boy's heritage with the use of a device that would force him to revert to his true form, nothing happened... to Teddy. His mom, however, was revealed as a member of the alien race, charged with guarding Teddy. But why?

Seems the Super-Skrull was only half right: Teddy's biological mother (as opposed to the one who had raised him) was indeed a Skrull, but his dad was most decidedly not. In fact, his father was the Kree soldier Mar-Vell - Captain Marvel.

Now, the Kree and the Skrull have been at war for countless ages, so a hybrid of the two is like the Montagues and Capulets, the Hatfields and McCoys and Palestine and Israel all rolled into one. We're talking intense inter-species hatred, here.

Years before, when Captain Marvel and a few of the other Avengers were brought to the Skrull Throneworld, Marv somehow hooked up with a skrullian princess - you know, he contracted that intergalactic jungle fever. Knowing how poorly this little bastard would be received, the princess sent her newborn to Earth, with a guard assigned to watch over and protect him. After all this was revealed and the Super-Skrull tried to kill Teddy, a group of Kree warriors appeared to protect him, declaring that they "take care of [their] own."
