Party time, excellent!
Rad skateboarder and a master with nunchucks who's always ready to party.
Although the two are generally synonymous, Battle Royale isn't the only Fortnite mode there is. That's the big moneymaker, obviously, but there are plenty of other ways to play "Fortnite" without ever having to fight 99 other players. So when the teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came to Fortnite, it wasn't just dressing up like the bros: there are full TMNT-themed maps and games you can play, meaning if you aren't enthused about the idea of seeing Michelangelo gun people down, play guitar, or construct Star Wars droids, there are ways you can play with him or any of the other characters fully in their natural element: beating up ninjas in New York.
It seems like a missed opportunity to give Mikey the same
kind of neutral, stern look all the other Turtles have. He's the happy one, the siilly one, he should at least be smiling! We don't need him burping, like in the trailer, but we can't even get a smile? A grin? A few teeth showing? No, it's just the same blank look all his brothers are sporting. His mask does arch up onto his forehead more, which makes it look like he's got his eyebrows raised behind there, but that's a small change at best.
We're already used to these NECA figures
all sharing the same bodytype, a result of Fortnite needing every skin to be the same size and proportion for fairness and balance reasons - like Shocka's said, it would be a dream come true to have Epic and Valve make peace so Gordon Freeman or Chell could be in Fortnite, but the TF2 mercs would never work right, because there's no such thing as a distinct FN silhouette. Would you want Heavy and Scout to be the same size? Because that's what making modern Turtles all have the same body is like.
The main difference between the brothers in this game is the clothing they wear. Mikey's got leather "shoes" that come up higher on the leg than Leo and Donnie's do, hiding a bunch of the wraps around his shins.
His kneepads, leather in the center with a metal frame, don't have any wraps behind them, just going straight onto the leg. There's one strap around his right thigh and two around his left. His belt has pouches on the side, and there's a single strap going diagonally across his chest. His gloves, like his spats, have big chunky stitches on them, and thick cuffs at the top, but only the hands get armor over the knuckles. The forearm wraps go almost all the way up to his elbows, where pads match the knees. The ties on his mask are long, hanging in front of him and reaching halfway down his chest. His cuffs and the pouches on his belt have orange details, to go along with his mask.
Like the other FN TMNT figures, Mikey has good articulation. He's got swivel/hinge ankles, double-hinge knees, swivel thighs, balljoint hips on hinges, a balljoint waist, swivel/hinge wrists, double-hinged elbows, swivel biceps, swivel/hinge shoulders, a balljointed neck, and barbell head. The extra joints in the hips allow the legs to lift higher, since they can now clear the bottom of his shell better. There's a swivel where the ties of his bandana pug into the head, but those ties are so long that there's no real room to move them, and so it's kind of pointless.
Michelangelo gets absolutely cheated when it comes to accessories. He's got his nunchucks, with their real metal chains, but there's nowhere for him to store them. Where's his backpack, NECA? Donatello had his Bo Sheath, Leonardo had his Saya, but Michelangelo gets nothing. He has one in the game: "Mikey's Board & Chucks" is a skateboard with more
orange-flapped pouches and a loop to store one nunchuck. Which is one more than he can store now. So where is it? If they didn't want to give him that, they could at least have done the generic "TMNT Pizza" backbling, which is a pizza box with a sai and two throwing stars sticking out of it. Or any of the TMNT guitars, since those can be worn, too. The action figure includes a code to download the "Ninja Stance: Mikey" emote, which reveals another accessory he should have come with: unlike his brothers, when he does his emote, he trades one of his nunchucks for a slice of pizza, so why doesn't this toy include that?
Michelangelo is absolutely the weakest of any of these figures. All the base toys are the same, but he got short-changed on the accessories, making him less worthwhile than the rest.
